Manduro is handmade from the rolled fibres of old banana trees - this robust material, together with the unique pattern of cotton cords, gives it a special, exotic charm.
Manduro has two practical handles, making it perfect as a laundry or towel basket, for example. Depending on the size, it is also ideal as a plant basket for large houseplants or in your living room as a striking storage place for firewood.

Main material: banana fibers
Our baskets are made from plant fibres, so they smell and feel wonderfully of nature.
Banana fibres are the fibres of the layered trunks of banana trees used in agriculture. The intense brown colour is created naturally when the fibres are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we attach importance to fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we buy our goods, we only work with adult and experienced craftsmen. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates hardly any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all this through regular on-site visits and permanent personal contact with the companies.
