Main material: water hyacinth
Our baskets are made from plant fibres, so they smell and feel wonderfully of nature.
The water hyacinth is a tropical aquatic plant that grows and is seen in rivers. They actually originate from South America, but also from Southeast Asia. There it is golden as a weed, because it multiplies incredibly quickly and can cover entire bodies of water with a carpet. The right lack of light and contact kills all the underwater life that belongs to the plants that are needed. In order to be able to process the plants for further processing, the leaves are lost and the thick stems are placed in the sun for three to seven days. The result is an abundance of possible, leading raw materials for many woven goods here at Soeji!

When choosing our possible location locations, we attach importance to fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we own our goods, full-fledged and working craftsmen work. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, hardly any greenhouse gas emissions are taken into account during the production process. Through permanent absence on site and permanent contact with the companies, we insure all stumps.
